COLONIE - Margaret S. Savas, 85, passed peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at her daughter’s home. Born in Albany on December 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Harder (Haas) and William Stackhouse, as well as step-daughter to Ernest Harder. Peggy was a graduate of Albany High School, worked for many years in the health insurance industry, and then later as a bookkeeper and receptionist for various private businesses. She also spent much of her life as a homemaker, with a vibrant spirit that captured the excitement of each season ahead. This naturally led to her love for entertaining family and friends, which was enhanced through her incredible creativity and unique homespun style. Her happiest times were spent on Cape Cod with her daughters and grandchildren, enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the sand and the sea. Her love, kindness, and generosity extended well beyond her immediate family, as she never hesitated to help others in need. Peggy enjoyed her morning newspaper and crossword puzzles, in addition to regularly reading an exciting detective novel or chilling mystery. She was the devoted wife of the late Augustus Savas; sister of William Stackhouse; cherished mother of Nancy Scott (James), Diane Delory-Constantino (Joel), and Susan Savas (Barry McNamara); beloved grandmother of Eve, Matthew, Michael, Rachel, Olivia, Lauren, and Lindsay; great-grandmother of Eric, Johnny, Timmy, and baby Luke. From her grieving family, “Your beautiful smile has warmed our hearts on so many cold winter days. Your unwavering love and support have provided us with extraordinary strength during countless difficult times. You will always be the sunshine kissing our skin as we sit on a summer’s beach, the ocean breeze running through our hair, and the swirl of memories all around us. Through the dreams, the laughter, and the tears, you will always be with us.” Her family will honor her privately, with arrangements being made through Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Central Avenue, Colonie NY.
