Obituary of Armand Brocca

Albany - Armand Brocca, 95, of Tremont St. died Sunday, April 30, 2017.  Born in Albany, Armand was a lifelong area resident.  He was a veteran of both the United States Merchant Marines and Army, serving during World War II where he was a recipient of a Purple Heart.  Armand worked in the construction industry and retired at age 57.  His love of horses started at age 11 and throughout his life he owned and trained horses, winning many races at the Saratoga Harness Track.  He was a member of the VFW in Saratoga.

    Armand was the father of David Brocca of Colonie and Linda Bergquist (Michael) of Greenwich; grandfather of Deanna Manney (Wayne), Angie Conlon (Eoghan), Casey Bergquist (Randy) and Paul Tracey, Jr.; great-grandfather of Jordan, Artie and Sonny.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Armand was predeceased by his former wife, Grace Brocca; mother, Virginia Juliano; grandson, Gerald Bergquist; and siblings, Mary O’Brien, Vincent Juliano, Irene Carr and Dominick Juliano.

    Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4 - 7 p.m. with a prayer service concluding the evening at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga.  For those who wish, memorial contributions to your favorite veteran’s organization would be appreciated.
