Obituary of Barbara J. Johnsen

Altamont - Barbara Plue Johnsen, 66, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Community Hospice of Albany Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.  Born in Albany, Barbara lived in Altamont for most of her life.  She was a graduate of Voorheesville High School and worked for New York Telephone, Armco Steel, General Electric and Medi-cab of Guilderland.  Barbara was a loving and caring person.  Everyone who met her was a better person for the influence she had on their lives.  She was also an excellent cook, enjoyed collecting dolls and she also loved gardening and reading.  She was a member of the Albany County Home Bureau and Pilgrim Holiness Church in Schenectady.

    Barbara was the wife of George Johnsen; mother of Denise Johnsen and Eric Johnsen (Heather); sister of Mark Plue (Alice), Steven Plue and Christopher Plue; grandmother of Alexandria Johnsen.  She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie.  Friends may also visit with Barbara's family Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Community Hospice Foundation, 310 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
