Obituary of Alice "Joanne" Arpin
Voorheesville - Alice “Joanne” Arpin died on January 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, Joanne joined her beloved husband of 41 years, Gerald and infant son, Gary for their long awaited reunion in Heaven. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Alice and Michael Hayes. Joanne belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary 1493, Ladies Auxiliary VFW7062, National Active and Retired Federal Employee (NARFE), and Town of New Scotland Seniors.
She was active within St. Matthew's Church going to mass almost daily for years and was on the Alter Rosary Society. She truly enjoyed Fr. Chris's sermons and spiritual talks. She enjoyed gathering with her friends after mass for breakfast, and going on her trips with the seniors. Joanne was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of Edward M. Arpin of Albany, Carole J. Davis (Keith Law) of Voorheesville, Sharon L. Cillis of Voorheesville, Janet M. Coton (Tim) of Voorheesville. She was the beloved "Grams" to 5 grandchildren, Bryan (Lexie) Davis, Michelle Budge, Joseph (Katie Piercey) Cillis, Melanie (Jeff) Krause, and Jeffrey Coton; and 2 great grandchildren, Jude Budge and Madelyn Krause. Joanne is survived by her brother in law, Anthony Gatto, sister in law and brother in law, Irene and Charles Antinoro, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joanne was preceded by her brother and sisters: Dorothy (Sigbert) Borg, John (Mary) Hayes, Helen Gatto; her brother in law and sister in law, Robert (Gloria) Arpin, Meriam (Ben) Miele and her son in law, Joseph J. Cillis. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at The Teresian House and E-5 at Albany Medical Center Hospital for providing care and support during her final days.
At Joanne's request, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview St. Voorheesville, NY 12186 on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at 10 am. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205, followed by a celebration of Joanne's life, 1-3 PM at the Voorheesville American Legion, 31 Voorheesville Ave. Voorheesville, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Matthew's Church.
