Obituary of Warren W. Schlickenrieder, Jr.

Voorheesville - Warren Schlickenrieder, Jr.   (1958 – 2018) – entered into eternal rest on June 30th after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Saranac Lake, NY on January 2, 1958 to the late Warren, Sr. and Virginia Schlickenrieder. He is survived by 3 sisters:  Lynn Sullivan of Raleigh, NC, Lauren Cox-Fazio (Frank) of Slingerlands, NY, and Lee (Robert) Edwards of Brooksville, FL. He is also survived by 3 nephews, a great nephew and a great niece, as well as many cousins.

     Warren, Jr graduated from Clayton A. Bouton Jr/Sr High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven in CT where he was a member of the ZBT fraternity.  He was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation for 17 years and rose to the supervisory level before retiring in 2017.

     Warren, Jr was a member, past president, and huge supporter of the Sons of the American Legion, and participated in most of their fund-raising events. He was also a member of the Voorheesville Rod & Gun Club.

     Throughout his life, Warren loved sports.  He grew up in Saranac Lake, NY and played Pee Wee hockey and Little League baseball.  As an adult, he was a dedicated golfer, softball player and bowler.  He was an avid fan of the New York Giants football and the San Francisco Giants baseball teams.

     Calling hours will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Reilly & SonsFuneral Home, Voorheesville followed by a celebration of Warren’s life at the American Legion in Voorheesville.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 6, 2018, followed by burial in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.

     The family would like to thank all of Warren’s caregivers, in particular the staff at St.Peter’s Hospital for showing such kindness to Warren in his final days.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
