Michele was my "Little Sister" in our college sorority, Alpha Kappa Phi, even though she was wise beyond her years, and was more like a big sister to me. Michele was bright, studious, kind and fun-loving. She was always laughing and enjoying life and was well-loved by everyone. I saw her a few times after college, and she told me that she loved her work and (most of!) her students. Being an effective and conscientios teacher was important to Michele, and her efforts did not go unnoticed by her colleagues and supervisors. I think she is laughing as she looks down as I write this, and would tease me about exaggerating about her best qualities! May she rest in peace!

Q: How did you meet Michele?
A: I met Michele through NYSRA back in the late 90's. We became fast friends and planned great vacations every year for over 20 years. There are many wonderful memories with Michele because her personality was pure, kind, fun, adventurous, nice, caring and just a hint of a devilish grin. She was more saintly than devil! Her unique brand of humor and care became a friendship with an unbreakable bond. We weren't sisters but it often felt like we were! I am forever grateful for the friendship and blessed to have had her influences to help shape me.
Michele loved flowers and knew all the names. She loved to travel. She loved being a teacher for young students. Wherever she went people responded to her cheery persona.
She was unique, a one of a kind personality and she will be missed tremendously.

I am one of Michele’s AGO friends (Alpha Kappa Phi sorority at SUNY Plattsburgh). She was in my pledge class. Always one to look on the brighter side with a smile and laugh to go with it. We had some good times there. Though life took us to different places the friendship endured and is something I will always treasure! Gone too soon. May she Rest in Peace.

Michele was a caring sorority sister of Alpha Kappa Phi at Plattsburgh. We lived in the sorority house together where we shared meals, service projects and beers. She always had a kind word for everyone and her smile and laugh were infectious. She was destined to be a wonderful teacher as she shared her love for children.
God grant her peace.✝️

I enjoyed getting to know Michelle at Summit. Her bubbling personality brightened our aerobic swim class and added enthusiasm to events we shared. I am grateful she brought Diane and the Red Book Shelf to the Summit Mill Hill community, a continuation of her passion for her students, reading and learning.

Michele was a genuine, giving, positive person and patient educator. Our family knew her through her work at Roesselville. She had a great laugh that would make everyone around laugh right along with her. Our condolences to the family on the loss of this great lady.

Q: How did you meet Michele?
A: Michele was the first reading specialist I worked with when I was first hired as a first grade teacher, at Roessleville Elementary, in South Colonie School District. She was a wonderful mentor, always encouraging me, willing to stay late with me to help me plan and to talk about our students. She had such a great personality. She was kind, funny, sarcastic and always ready for a good laugh. I’ve missed Michele at Roessleville, but I cherish the memories I have of her and with her.
With my deepest condolences,
Sandy LaBrake
