Obituary of Sandra G. Flansburg

Sandra Nietsche Flansburg, age 88, Voorheesville, died Wednesday May 14, 2025 at St. Peter's Hospital Hospice.  Wife of her late devoted husband and best friend William (Bill) L. Flansburg, loving mother of William Flansburg, Rensselaerville and Anne Flansburg Sager (Mike Hall) of Bethlehem.

Born in Hudson, NY, to the late Eugene Nietsche and Helen Cripps Nietsche, Warrensburg NY, Sandy was a graduate of Warrensburg Central School and Albany Business College. She is also survived by her brother, Eugene (Suzanne) Nietsche of Livonia, NY and sister Karen (Perry, deceased) Finkle of Loudon, TN as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sandy was employed by the New York State Police for over 30 years and was an avid bowler. She, Bill and family enjoyed many summers in the North Country on Black Lake and the St. Lawrence River. Later they enjoyed winters in Estero Florida for over 10 years and made many friends.  Sandy and Bill loved traveling and going to casinos, including Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Turning Stone, Foxwoods, and Saratoga.  Even after Bill passed she would still drive herself to Saratoga and Rivers casinos where she usually had a winning strategy on the slot machines. She also loved gathering with family and friends for holidays (she was a regular at the Memorial Day Parade in Voorheesville) and picnics, playing games on her computer (nightly with her sister Karen), and going out to eat - especially Italian food!

As Sandy was a breast cancer survivor, in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Calling hours will be from 4 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Reilly and Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville.  Sandy and her husband will be buried together at the Saratoga National Cemetery the following day.
