Obituary of Phyllis J. Talbot

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Phyllis Talbot of Voorheesville passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief stay.  Phyllis was born on July 16, 1932 to Jarvey and Esther Willsie in East Berne, NY.  She graduated from Berne Knox High School in 1950 as Salutatorian of her class.  She attended Spencer Business Institute for secretarial studies and immediately secured a job with the New York State Controller office where she met the love of her life, Thomas Talbot to whom she was married to for 56 years. She was happiest when she and Tom would attend weekly Mass at St. Matthews Church and then enjoy dinner at their favorite restaurant.  They enjoyed traveling to Lake George, Lake Placid and the Caribbean.   Phyllis loved animals and was particularly fond of her squirrels which she fed Ritz crackers on her deck. While living in Voorheesville, she walked every day to her local store and beyond.  She was known for her since of style, always perfectly groomed and her hair would be done on a weekly basis no matter what!  She most recently resided at Peregrine Delmar Place where she enjoyed bingo, Sunday mass and her window bird feeder along with the music and the pet therapy animals.

She is survived by her brother Glen (Shirley) Willsie and her sister-in-law, Shirley Talbot and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass on Wednesday, May 28 at 11:00am at St. Matthew’s Church in Voorheesville with calling hours at 10:00am.  She will be buried next to her husband at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Berne.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. Matthew’s Church, Voorheesville or the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society.

And a special thank you to the dedicated and loving staff at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, we are extremely grateful for your kindness, support and compassion.
