Obituary of Ellen L. Hunsinger

Guilderland - Ellen Lynne Campion Hunsinger, 80, entered into eternal life on August 19, 2025 after an eight year battle with colon cancer. Ellen was born in Albany New York. She was the daughter of the late William and Marcia Campion. she was the beloved wife of Patrick Hunsinger for 58 years whom she shared a lifetime of adventures and love with family and friends. Their marriage was a role model for others to witness, one of such strength and endurance.

 Ellen is survived by the love of her life, Patrick; her loving daughter,Kristin (Paul) of East Greenbush; precious grandchildren, Walter Patrick (Natalie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Shea Elizabeth of Dallas, Texas, Olivia Lynne (Matthew) of Albany and Scott Joseph (Madeline) of East Greenbush.  Ellen was looking forward to meeting her first great grandchild, Matthew James, due in October. Also survived by sister, Susan (James) Rider of Postenkill; nephew, Gary (Samantha) Ruberti ofBurlington, Vermont.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, Albert and Amelia Hammond, and her sister Mary (Gary) Ruberti. She is survived and loved by numerous cousins.

Ellen was a graduate of Voorheesville High School and SUNY Farmingdale. She retired from the Division of Budget in 1997.

Ellen was a past president and life member of the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, charter member and past president of the Albany County Volunteer Ladies Auxiliary, member of the NSFDA Hose Hustlers Firematic Drill Team, past member of the Voorheesville Area Ambulance and member of the Voorheesville American Legion Auxiliary.

We will cherish all of our memories of countless trips to Walt Disney World, Myrtle Beach, Wildwood and many Caribbean Cruises with family and friends. 

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.  Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Route 85, New Salem at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  A reception will follow at the New Salem Fire House, 694 New Salem Rd., Voorheesville.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen’s name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204 would be appreciated.
