We’re saddened by the passing of Peter and are sending our sympathy. He was a true gentleman, a leader, and a lifelong advocate for NY agriculture. Peter gave generously of his time, knowledge, and heart, shaping Indian Ladder Farms into a beacon of sustainability and community. We always enjoyed the Cornell community’s apple picking event that Peter hosted at the farm for many years.
His wit, wisdom, and warmth touched many lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come. He will be deeply missed.

Besides living in V'ville and being a frequent visitor of Indian Ladder Farms, I had the unique pleasure of working with Peter for many years in his role as a board member on the NYS Apple Research and Development Committee and my role as staff member to the committee. I traveled with Peter to Cornell for meetings, dined with him, and carefully listened to his wisdom and humor in both his neighbor and board member role. He was a born innovator. Admired by the fruit scientists and faculty at Cornell, as well as his fellow apple growers, Pete was a shining example of how to be a leader, entrepreneur, and above, a wonderful human being. He will be missed.

Peter was a family friend and my boss as a young teenager in the 70's working at the farm for several summers and many falls during the crazy Apple Season. The great way about him and the way he ran the farm business stuck with me throughout my adult career allowed me to be successful. Pete was a serious worker but having fun was important as well. He taught us all about work and how to do it together.
Good thoughts of Peter and condolences to his family.

My husband and I met Peter and Rose-Marie on a trip out west. We loved them both instantly. Smart, funny and well-read. We got to visit them on the farm as well. My husband recently died and I like to think that Pete still has Reed in stitches with his great jokes and off hand comments.
My sincere sympathy to the whole family.
