Obituary of Tryllys A. Filkins

Tryllys A. Filkins passed away peacefully on Saturday 2/7/26 at St. Peters hospital of Albany.  She was born in Albany, NY.

Tryllys's mother was Edith Cass and her Father William (Bill) Cass, residence of Clarksville, NY.  She had another brother Donald Cass and a younger sister Karen Hammas.  Donald and their parents have passed on. She had 2 nieces, 3 nephews and many great nieces and nephews.  She is survived by her daughter Holly (Michel) Sherman and children: Caleb (Sheenan) and Tonya and also daughter Shawne (Lennard) Lodge and children: Sarah (Justin) Huse and Amanda Lodge.  Tryllys is predeceased by her beloved grand child Seth Lodge. She also has 6 great grandchildren.

As a toddler she would go on milk deliveries with Donald for their parents dairy business.  Tryllys shared stories about young Donald volunteering to join WWII as a marine.

Her early education took place in a one room school near the foot of Cass Hill Rd.  Her favorite class seemed to be recess. Playing store with the other children on the big rocks near the creek was a favored activity.

She graduated from Bethlehem Central High in Delmar.  Tryllys then performed clarical work for the Albany Chamber of Commerce.  She grew to work multiple jobs including baby sitting, answering service, operator and emergency room receptionist at St. Peters.

She had married Wilbur Filkins and adopted 2 daughters but divorced shortly after. She lived in Clarksville with her girls then moved to Schenectady NY.  As a single mother she was able to purchase a house there that she resided in and loved.  With a ready laugh and outgoing personality afforded her opportunity to make friends easily and many persistent until thier death.

In her retirement years she enjoyed crossword puzzles, acrylic painting, coloring and drawing.  When she could she would play Bingo and other games being surprisingly competitive.

Tryllys will be remembered fondly and missed by many.  May she rest in peace.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville.  A visiting hour will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
