Obituary of Paul M. Cantlin

Voorheesville - Paul M Cantlin, age 89, died Wednesday, November 8, 2023.  Born in Keene, NH, he was the son of Paul W and Bernice (Brown) Cantlin.  Paul graduated from Keene High School, married Helen Lambert and they moved to New York.  He was hired by William and Henry Heilman as a carpenter helper.  In later years, he had his own business.  He worked at CDPC for a while before he was hired by the Town of New Scotland as a building and code officer.  At one time, he was the peace officer.  He worked for Santac after retirement for a while, doing State and court exams.

Paul was a fireman for about 25 years.  He served as first assistant chief.  He played softball with the fireman and earned the most valuable player of the year.  He also participated in the firematics.  He was a member of the New Scotland Senior citizens and a mason in Lodge 684 Berne.

Paul enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, and most of all motorcycling.  He played golf and bowled and even scored several 300 games.  He shot pool where he made several friends.

Siblings of Paul are his sister, Joyce (Lonnie deceased) Carver and brother, Jon (Helen) Cantlin of Marietta, GA.  His parents and brothers Robert and Allan predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife Helen and children, Mark (Kwi Cha) Cantlin of Peoria, AZ, Terri (Richard) Berger, Dawna (Louis deceased) Leon, Susan Herzog (Dennis Murphy) and Paul C (Janice) Cantlin, all of Voorheesville.  He had 10 grandchildren:  Paul Ju, Christina, Ashleigh, David, Jon, Brandy, Joamy, Gregry, Alyssa and Paula; also 14 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 2 - 5 p.m.   As a special request, visitors to the funeral home are asked to please not wear perfume.  Burial will be private.  For those who wish, donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Albany County Volunteer Firefighter Burn Unit, Att: Fred Pettingell - Treasurer, 42 Mountainview Terrace, Rensselaer, NY 12144-9725.
