Voorheesville – Richard J. Flansburg, 85, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany, Richard was a lifelong resident of Voorheesville. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959 and then worked for 30 years as a truck driver for the Freihofers Bakery in Albany before retiring in 1992. Richard was a member of the Voorheesville Rod & Gun Club and the Voorheesville Fire Department. He was a Mason and a former member of the Voorheesville American Legion. Richard had a great love of playing the banjo and listening to music. He also enjoyed softball, pool, fishing, hunting and bowling.
Richard was the husband of the late Norma Flansburg; father of Sharon and Austin Miller of Citronella, AL, Sue and Mike Galvin of Voorheesville and Connie and Jeffrey Zuraff of DeFuniak Springs, FL; brother of the late Chet Day, Dorothy Bradtke and William Flansburg; and grandfather of Jay Lucas, Katherine Flansburg, Richard Soloyna, Morgan Galvin, Madison Galvin, Shawn Kelly and Ian Kelly.
Private funeral services are being held at the convenience of the family. Richard will be entombed with his late wife, Norma in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery at a later date.
