Obituary of Gertrude M. Kercull

Loudonville - Gertrude Pieszczoch Kercull died peacefully surrounded by her family and friend on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the home of her son, Dr. Robert Kercull. She was almost 100 years old. Born on October 29, 1911 in Schenectady, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Pieszczoch. In April 1935 Gertrude married Henry Kercull, an engineer for the State of New York, making their home in Loudonville since 1948. Gertrude worked for many years designing, altering wedding gowns, and making formal dresses for many social functions. During the spring and summer you could always find Gertrude working in her flower garden at home. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Henry: her daughter Patricia Kercull Welch: her sisters Mary Pieszczoch, Agnes Chmielinski and two brothers, Heliodor and George. Survivors include her son, Dr. Robert Kercull and his wife, Kathy Zeronda Kercull; her grandchildren, Wendy, Brad, Jennifer and Samantha; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Caroline; her son-in-law, Thomas Welch and several nephews. Friends may call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home in Colonie on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 4 - 6 p.m. Burial will be at the family plot in St. Adalberts Cemetery in Rotterdam.
