Obituary of Vera M. Jackson

Latham - Vera Harrat Jackson, age 92, of Henkes Lane died at home October 8, 2011 after a long illness. Mrs. Jackson was born in Troy, NY and attended Troy High School. She was employed as a beautician for many years, and after her marriage to Theodore J. Jackson, was a homemaker. She has been a resident of Latham for the past 49 years. Mrs. Jackson was a former member of the Sacred Heart Church in Troy and a member of the Mothers' Club of Sacred Heart School, where she was a past secretary and an avid participant in the many activities of the club. Since moving to Latham, she was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Her hobbies in later years were gardening, reading, needle point and rug hooking. Vera was predeceased by her devoted husband of 61 years, Theodore J. Jackson. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Jackson and her husband, Stanley Godlewski of Latham; sister, Joan Zimmer Kessler of Gloversville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Vera to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
