Obituary of Thomas J. Vunk

Voorheesville - Thomas J. Vunk, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 18, 2012. He was born December 11, 1926 in Amsterdam, NY to Austin and Rose (Clark) Vunk. Thomas had lived in Voorheesville for the past 48 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. Thomas was a career Insurance Adjustor and Casualty Supervisor with GAB and AIG. He was a member of the American Legion, the Northeast Woodworkers Association, and a volunteer with the Literacy New York Greater Capital Region. Thomas was the cherished husband of Marlene Maines Vunk; loving father of Jacquelyn Vunk (Daniel Morin), Carol Alpy (Louis), Christine Parker (Paul) and Daniel Vunk (Juliette); grandfather of Madison Vunk, Jackson Vunk, Austin Parker and Sarrah Parker. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece. Tom was predeceased by his sisters Rita Eckert and Frances Slottka. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:00 o'clock.
