Dominic Iacobucci Obituary
Colonie - Dominic "Scotty" Iacobucci, 92, passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2013 with his family by his side. Born in Schenectady on July 5, 1920, he was the son of the late Annuniata Carapellucci and Giuseppi Iacobucci. His parents died before he was six and he was raised by family friends, the late Mary and Pete Scartt. He attended Roessleville School and as a youth, worked at the Colonie Country Club. He discovered the love of golf and excelled at the sport well into his 80's. He was one of the original stockholders of the Pine Haven Country Club in Guilderland. He became a member of the Fuller Road Fire Department in 1938 and has the distinguished honor of being the longest registered life member. This is his 75th year. During World War II he served in the Coast Guard in the Brooklyn Barracks from 1942 to 1946. He received an Athletic Award for his participation in the golf league. After the military, he was employed by New York Central Railroad (Conrail) for 34 years, retiring at the age of 60. In 1942 he married Marie F. Britt, his bride of 34 years who passed away in 1976. He is survived by their children, Beverly D. Gogola, Joseph B. Iacobucci (Audrey) and Arlene F. Lindell (George); grandchildren, Connie M. Hotaling (Ward), Kelly A. Smith (Todd), Elizabeth D. Mastio (Carl), Amy M. Woron (Ray), Pamela M. Hunt (Greg), Kimberly E. Flickinger (Mark) and Scott M. Lindell; great-grandchildren, Alexis Marie Flickinger and William Allen Hunt; sister, Josephine Barnum; several nieces, nephews and cousins; good friends, Bernice Aviza, Jim Sector and Louis Costa. He was predeceased by his dear friend and beloved companion of 29 years, Elizabeth Aviza; son-in-law, Edward R. Gogola; brothers-in-law, Percy Barnum and Andrew F. Brit; sister-in-law, Katherine Britt; and nephew, Clarence M. Britt. A funeral service celebrating his life for friends and family will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. At his request, calling hours will be private. The family wishes to thank the wonderful, compassionate and professional staff at the Stratton VA Hospital dialysis unit for the extraordinary care given to Scotty.
