Obituary of Rose M. DeFreest

Rensselaer - Rose M. “Rosie” DeFreest, 74, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.  Born in the Albany area, Rosie was the daughter of the late Margaret and Clarence Rockenstire.  She was also predeceased by her siblings Ellie, Shirley and Linda Rockenstire.  Rosie loved working at the Rensselaer Housing Lunch Program for the children.

Rosie was the beloved mother of 12 children, Donna, Ronnie, Ralph, Paula, Larry, Leejay, Joann, Jason, Carrie, Helen, John and Elizabeth.  She was very much involved in the lives of her 42 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by seven sisters and two brothers.

Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 from 10:00 a.m .to 1:00 p.m. at the Reilly and Son Funeral Home, Colonie.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Rose DeFreest.
