Colonie - James J. "Perky" Perkinson, 74, of Iris Lane in Colonie and Condado, Puerto Rico died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. James was employed for the Schaefer Brewery, the Albany County Highway Department in the Hilltowns, was the proprietor of the Shell Inn in Rensselaerville, served for 18 years as an Albany County Legislator serving the Hilltowns and worked as a Security Officer for the City of Albany at the Alcove Resevoir. He was a life member of the Colonie Elks, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 173, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of America and a member of the Albany County Fish and Game Association. Perky was the husband of Carol Lansley Perkinson; father of Christine Perkinson of Colonie, Michelle Perkinson of Colonie and the late Anne Marie Perkinson; grandfather of Allyssa and Lewie Perkinson; and brother of the late Margaret Wood and Michael Perkinson. Funeral services will be 8:00 o'clock Saturday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 9:00 o'clock at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Scholarship Fund at Blessed Sacrament School, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 would be appreciated.
