Mrs. Hammett was my junior high science teacher and later a fellow teacher when I came back to Voorheesville to teach. She was a wonderful role model with a great sense of humor and a gentle touch with her students.

I had the pleasure of working with Clare for my 1st decade at Voorheesville. Since I was teaching science to 7th graders, I often sought her counsel and was always warmly welcomed. She was a wise and compassionate mentor with endless patience for young teachers and junior high students. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

Mrs. Hemmett was my seventh and eighth grade science teacher, as well as my guidance counselor. I graduated in 1971.
I remember her as very kind.

Betsy, It warms my heart that Aunt Clare had you there to share in her life as she aged. Thank you for all you did to bring such joy and purpose to her life. She is one of my favorite people. I feel blessed that I got to be a small part of her very well-lived life.

Dear Hemmett Family,
I first met Mrs. Emmett in 8th grade Science class. I had moved from Albany to Voorheesville in 1964. Mrs. Hemmett was the kindest, nicest teacher I had in the Voorheesville Jr.-Sr. High School. The Class of '68 always remembered her with great love and affection.
Sincerely,
Linda J Piurek, Sedona, Arizona

I am going to miss Clara terribly. First I was her student at Voorheesville High School then I became her home health aid many years later for over a year. After 30 years of doing this kind of work Clara will go down in my book as the most kind, loving, funny, happy and child of God that I have had the pleasure to take care of. We read, sang, laughed and talked the whole time we were together. She never realized that sometimes she was helping me more than I was helping her. I looked forward to each time with her filling my cup with the love of life and our Lord. Mike and I are struggling now that she is gone. But I am so very certain where she is. There is no way Clara did not make it to heaven. I also know that she will make the finest and prettiest Angel they ever had. I told her when her time came I wanted her to be my angel and she happily said of course. So now that we can not play together all I have to do is look up to see her, close my eyes to see and hear her, touch my heart with the empty place she once filled. Oh my sweet Clara you will be missed always. Play hard with the other angels and be happy.
I also am very happy to have met the friends and family that loved Clara so much. I have come away with so many new friends.
With much love Betsy Simmons
