Guilderland - Mary Hoogkamp (Champlin) 90 went home to the Lord on July 10, 2021. Born in Colonie to Verne and Ellen Foster Champlin Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in Albany. While attending high school Mary spent much of her time at Hoffman’s Skateland in Albany and became an accomplished skater performing in many shows at the rink. She also enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Rochester and loved to tell stories about her times there. After Graduation she went to work for the NY Telephone Company until starting her family with her husband and settling in Latham. After raising her family, she reentered the work force and worked for The Albany County Nursing Home until her retirement.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Alvin Hoogkamp and was a devoted and loving mother to Christopher Hoogkamp of Berne, Gerard Hoogkamp (MaryKay) of Stillwater, Patrick Hoogkamp of Latham, Colleen Smith (Bill) of Johnsonville and the late Ellen Hagadone and the late Alvin Hoogkamp (Christine).
Also survived by her sister Ginger Lorini of Albany. Predeceased by her sister Ellen Sabott, Patricia Hanley, and brother Verne Champlin Jr (Buzzy). Mary is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 - 7 in the funeral home.
The family would like to especially thank Richard, Rose, Kelly and Alycia of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the care, compassion and respect they always showed Mary during her time there.
