Obituary of Robert W. Reichel

Colonie - Robert W. Reichel, 84, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany to the late Elizabeth Deitze and Alfred Reichel, Robert was a lifelong resident of Colonie. He was employed at the Gabriel’s Food Center, Continental Can Company, the South Colonie School District and the Shenendehowa School District before his retirement. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending summers at Brant Lake. He was an antique and classic car enthusiast and especially enjoyed his 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible.
Robert was the husband of Veronica Nash Reichel; father of Denise Reichel of Colonie, Robin DiNovo (Rob) of East Greenbush and Valerie Seymour (Mike) of Colonie; brother of Irene Reichel, Carol Reichel and the late Ronald Reichel, Sr. (and the late Pat); and grandfather of Joseph Sharkey, Danielle DiNovo, Anthony Seymour and Jesse James Philip DiNovo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 would be appreciated.
