Obituary of Rachel A. Applegate

Please share a memory of Rachel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Slingerlands - Rachel Ann Applegate passed away quietly in her home on March 19, 2024 at the age of 82 following a battle with cancer.  Her husband of 60 years, Michael Applegate was at her side.

Born in Saratoga Springs, New York on August 13, 1941, she was the daughter of William and Mabel Gorham. She was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and The Sage College of Albany where she studied nursing. She was proud of her work as a Registered Nurse, and remained in this field until her retirement.

She especially enjoyed quilting and will be remembered both for her endless sewing projects and her gifts of the same to her children and grandchildren.  Her unwavering support for her family along with our collections of hand-made quilts & sweaters will always bring warm memories.

Rachel is survived by her husband Michael Applegate of Slingerlands NY; son Scott Applegate of Lincoln, NE; son Craig (Kathy) Applegate of Guilderland, NY; sister Linda (Verne) Childs of Westdale, NY; brother Bill (Linda) Gorham of Saratoga Springs, NY; sister Wilma (Dean) Eppen  of MN; grandchildren Erin Applegate, Emily Applegate, Griffin Applegate of  Lincoln, NE and Alexa Applegate of Guilderland, NY;  as well as treasured nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 28, 2024  at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Delmar.
