Obituary of Janet Katherine Wheeler

Janet was a spirited, some might say stubborn, yet deeply spiritual person. She cherished her family and was fiercely protective of them. Her passion for cooking brought warmth and comfort to everyday meals and created bountiful spreads for joyous celebrations and holiday gatherings. Janet's artistic talents shone through in her crocheting and sewing, leaving behind beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and love.

A devoted word search enthusiast, she never missed her daily puzzles. Her penchant for shopping and decorating added color and variety to her life. Janet will be remembered for her unwavering spirit and the boundless love she had for her family.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Darcy Preheim (Thomas); stepdaughter, Laurie Allen (Jim); stepsons, Robert Wheeler (Laura) and George Wheeler (Debbie); brother, Gary Vroman (Joanne); six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Janet was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Wheeler; her deeply loved son, Michael Newman; her parents, Wesley and Harriet Vroman; and her sister, Marjorie Sheroka.

Visitation will be held at Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave, Colonie, NY, on Tuesday, August 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, followed by funeral services at the funeral home and burial at Memory Gardens.

Janet will be greatly missed and always remembered by her family and friends.
