Obituary of Leslie E. Loucks
Leslie Earl Loucks, 81, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong farmer, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at his home in Clarksville, New York.
Born on March 22, 1943, in Albany, New York, Leslie developed a deep connection to the land that shaped his life’s work and passion. A dedicated farmer, he found joy in raising Angus cattle and cultivating the fields that became a cornerstone of his legacy.
On December 20, 1974, Leslie married Janet Biers, his beloved partner in life. Together they shared over 44 years of marriage until Janet’s passing in the summer of 2019. Their union was marked by love, resilience, and a shared commitment to family and farming.
Leslie is lovingly remembered by his daughters Christy Van Vranken and her husband Eric; Liza Zautner and her husband Christopher; daughter-in-law Nikisha; grandsons Randy Spengler, Christopher Zautner, Kyle Loucks, Eric John Van Vranken, and Owen Van Vranken; and granddaughters Kaylee Loucks and Meghan Zautner.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet (Biers) Loucks and his son Lester “Charlie” Loucks.
In keeping with Leslie’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service for both Leslie and Janet will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Salem, New York, followed by a celebration of life later this year.
“Off Farming the Fields of Heaven.” May Leslie’s enduring spirit bring comfort to all who cherished him.
