Colonie - Martha Johnson Romand, 91, of Osborne Rd. Colonie, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Albany Memorial Hospital. Martha was Born in Flushing, NY, on January 21, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Helga and Gustave Johnson. She was raised in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School. In 1943 she married her childhood sweetheart, the late Charles A. Romand and they moved to Colonie in 1947. Martha's total devotion in life was to her husband and children and to be the best homemaker. But she also wanted to help them have a little extra so she worked part time as a Saleslady for Robert Hall Clothing in Albany. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany. The widow of the late Charles A. Romand, she was the mother of Charles T. Romand (Kathy) of Loudonville and James M. Romand of Loudonville; sister of the late Gosta "Gus" Johnson; grandmother of Michael,Thomas, Richard, Kori, James and Nicholas; great-grandmother of Kali, Ashley, Noah, Rainelle, Gino, Isabella and Adrianna; and godmother of Donald (Helen) LaQue. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Marge Romand and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Martha is also predeceased by her brother and sister in law Don and Betty LaQue and brothers in law Joe and Jamie Romand. Funeral 9:30 Wednesday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 10:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Friends may also call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. For those who wish, memorial contributions to Blessed Sacrament Church would be appreciated.
