Voorheesville - Richard Campbell Ramsey (known by his friends and family as Dick) passed away on January 13, 2025. He was born and raised in Schenectady, NY on 2/20/40 and always loved that his date of birth was a mathematical equation. He lived the last 52 years in Voorheesville, NY. He was the son of Charles Ramsey and Mildred Pollock Ramsey.  Dick and Judy were married on March 26, 1966, in her home town of Islip,NY.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Zipp Ramsey, and two daughters, Jennifer (Roger) Rennels and Kate Ramsey, and his grandchildren, Martina and Dylan Rennels. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Ramsey. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Lolik and Sue Marion, sister-in-law Sherry Ramsey, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Flanagan and his brother David Ramsey. His family meant everything to him.

Dick was the first in his family to go to college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from Harpur College in 1962. He worked for 30 years at the New York State Office of Mental Hygiene and for several years served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Dick was an avid volunteer in the Voorheesville community. He was an active member of New Scotland Kiwanis for several decades and served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He served as the Treasurer and a coach for the New Scotland Soccer Club and was also a coach for the Kiwanis softball league. Dick was a member of the Voorheesville Library Board of Trustees and during part of that time he served as the President.

Dick had a great sense of humor, laughing and joking with family and friends. He loved going to Maine on family vacations and attending extended family picnics. He had a sharp wit that made everyone smile. According to him, he was very steadfast, not stubborn. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Dick followed national and global politics regularly, often with a few choice words to say about certain politicians.
